Venous Leg Ulcers: Compression Adherence

Compression works. Non-adherence doesn’t.
Our WEG playbook to keep patients in compression

➡️ Fit > brand: measure calf/ankle; re-fit as edema changes if needed.
➡️ Tiered starts: light compression week 1 → therapeutic by week 2.
➡️ Wearability hacks: donning aids, morning application, sock liners.
➡️ Micro-goals: “7 days in a row” tracker + photo check-ins.
➡️ Escalate fast: if slips/itching → switch system, don’t abandon compression.
➡️ Heal the ulcer, then maintain with movement.
