The wound edge tells the truth.
If the edge is advancing, the plan is probably working.
If the edge is macerated, rolled, undermined, or static, something upstream is failing.
What I check when the edge isn’t behaving:
moisture injury (peri-wound breakdown)
uncontrolled edema / venous pressure
pressure/shear at the margin
bioburden/biofilm pattern
perfusion reserve
Dressings cover wounds. Edges heal wounds.
