A simple way to think about exudate management is:
A = Alginates for high drainage
F = Foams for moderate to high exudate
S = Superabsorbents for very high exudate or compression use
The key is to match the dressing to fluid level, wound depth, and the condition of the periwound skin. Good exudate management helps reduce maceration, protect surrounding tissue, and support healing.
Always check the IFU, since absorbency varies by product.
